The Strike 3 Foundation First Pitch Celebrity Gala is right around the corner. Founded by CT Major League Pitcher Craig Breslow, the Strike 3 Foundation raises funding for Connecticut pediatric cancer research centers.
Last November, the Strike 3 Foundation hosted its first major fundraiser, The First Pitch Celebrity Gala, in Connecticut. The event was a resounding success, selling out and attracting such celebrities as Hall of Fame journalist Peter Gammons, UCONN womens’ basketball coach Geno Auriemma, Cleveland Indians pitcher Jensen Lewis, former New York Met Joe McEwing, and MIT Blackjack team member and subject of the hit movie 21 Jeffrey Ma. Over $75,000 was raised at the event as a result of the generous contributions of companies and individuals.
We are now planning our second event, to be held on November 7, 2009 at the prestigious Omni Hotel in New Haven, Connecticut. We hope to build upon the success of 2008 with a better attended and more profitable Celebrity Gala. We anticipate over 600 guests attending. Several Major Leaguers have confirmed attendance, including former Red Sox superstar Nomar Garciaparra and American League All-Star Andrew Bailey, Jack Cust, Kevin Slowey, and Shea Ralph among others.
The Strike 3 Foundation has garnered national attention, profiled in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, San Francisco Chronicle, Boston Globe, and NY Times.
